DRIVING CHANGE

In rural and remote Australia

The Problem

Our Solution

Mental health care is hard to navigate, and even harder to reach in rural and remote Australia.

Suicide rates are over 50% higher outside cities, with half of all rural mental health cases ending up in emergency departments by default. There are fewer professionals on the ground and too many people are falling through the cracks – quietly, and alone.

The Wellbeing Network is building one clear place to start.

Our travelling wellbeing hubs meet people where they are, offering free and immediate, stigma-free access to mental health support and a full range of healing pathways unique to each community we serve.

Whether for yourself, a loved one or a friend, we’ll connect you to what works for you: culturally specific support, primary and allied health,  peer support, alternative therapies, and proven mind–body tools like yoga & breath-work, community group activities and exercise classes. Because healing isn’t just clinical, it takes a village.

We’re not changing the system — we’re taking it where it’s needed.

Help us drive it.

Mission

The Wellbeing Network is driving change in rural and remote Australia by bringing mental health support directly to communities through travelling, stigma-free wellbeing hubs. We provide immediate, compassionate, and cost-free care that connects individuals with the right support, whether clinical, complementary, digital, social, or community-based. We help people take the first step toward better mental health.

We envision a future where every rural and regional resident of Australia has access to timely, relevant, and respectful mental health support. By delivering care where it’s needed most, The Wellbeing Network is building a more connected, empowered, and mentally healthy nation; one rural community at a time.

The Wellbeing Network aims to be Australia’s leading travelling mental health outreach provider, helping people take action early, reducing pressure on emergency services, and strengthening local communities. Through walk-in access to a wide range of support options and connections, we’re creating pathways to mental wellbeing, meaningful employment, and long-term resilience. We’re not just meeting needs: we’re driving change.

1. Humanity First: We see the person before the problem. Every individual matters — we lead with compassion, respect, and real connection.

2. Access for All: Mental health care should be reachable, relatable, and stigma-free, no matter your postcode, background, or story.

3. Whole-Person Healing: We honour all proven paths to wellbeing, from primary and complementary health to lifestyle, cultural, and community-based support. Healing isn’t just clinical — it takes a village.

4. Lived Experience Leads: We believe those who’ve walked the path are essential to changing it. We centre lived voices and shared stories in everything we do.

5. Community-Led Change: We work with communities, not for them. Our hubs listen first, act locally, and meet people where they are.

6. Courage to Act: We’re not waiting for permission. We’re building what’s needed — boldly, creatively, and with heart.

Our Story

We’re Jason and Davina, founders of The Wellbeing Network. Two professional, purpose-driven people with lived experience, working to make mental health services accessible for all rural Australians.

With a background in allied health, Jason brings his passion and expertise helping people in real-world settings. Davina brings two decades of experience in product design, marketing, communications and business. Together, we’ve been parents for 15 years, juggling careers, family and the daily pressures of modern life. We wear many hats, and we know the struggle is real.

We live in the Clarence Valley, where the sunsets are among the best in the country and the beaches stretch for miles. On the surface, it’s paradise, but like so many rural areas, our community is facing a quiet crisis.

Since immigrating to Australia, our family has called the Northern Rivers home for the past decade. We’ve been on the brink of homelessness, caught in the rental shortage and moving from house to house amid rising living costs, chasing the dream of affordable home ownership. Along the way, we’ve faced floods, fires, storms, a pandemic, job instability and the forced closure of a business, all while managing our family’s own mental health challenges.

Since settling in the Clarence Valley, we’ve sought help for anxiety, depression, stress, burnout and breakdown. We’ve experienced firsthand just how difficult it is to access support without nearby family or a strong local network. And we’ve seen friends and neighbours quietly struggle too.

We believe social and systemic change begins in community and on country. That’s why we’re building the support network that every rural Australian deserves.

The Wellbeing Network respectfully acknowledges the Yaegl people, Traditional Custodians of the land we call home, and the many First Nations peoples across Australia.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We honour the deep connection First Nations communities have to Country, culture, healing and community, and are committed to listening, learning and walking alongside Aboriginal people in all that we do.
